A lifestyle of contentment
Tim Ferris, dream merchant to many aspiring entrepreneurs, expounds this view perfectly in his seminal “work from anywhere, do whatever you like” business book The 4-Hour Work Week.
In the book he helps readers realise that you don’t need millions of pounds (or dollars, yen or euros) to live like a millionaire – most of the time the actual millionaire lifestyle costs less than you’d expect and the 0’s in the bank are just there for show.
In much the same way, finding contentment isn’t about reaching an end goal – retiring at 40 with £1million in the bank – but creating a space that allows us to do the things that make us happy.
It’s not about work-to-reward, it’s about allowing ourselves to be constantly rewarded for the work that we do. And recognising how lucky we are to be able to do it.
